Travis Louie

Influenced by German Expressionist and Film Noir motion pictures, Queens-born artist Travis Louie applies patience and precision to his moody portraits of the humanly odd. Achieving his trademark dramatic look by putting down acrylic paints over tight graphite drawings on smooth grounds, Louie is able to creatively document inhabitants from his vast imaginary made-up world. If you are in Los Angeles between now and December 10th, Louie’s work is a must see. It is currently hanging at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in a Louie’s new solo show entitled “Curious Pets.”
