Kate Clark
By combining the essence of the human spirit with folkloric wild beasts Brooklyn sculptor Kate Clark is able to analyze the balance between personal and mythological realms. Because of the contrasting grotesque/beautiful nature of these combinations, Clark is able procure the idea that in some way we are all just wild animals hiding behind the veil of civilization, society, and culture. You can see some of Clark’s creations in person at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in a show entitled “Fairy Tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination” which will be on display until May 29, 2012.
