Los Angeles painter Esao Andrews places vibrant life into drab apocalyptic worlds, filling your head with wonder, mystery, and an unmistakable sense that you’re witnessing the inside a fantastic dream.  Don’t miss the artist’s latest work which is currently on display alongside works from Aaron Horkey and João Ruas as part of The Gilded Age, a three-person show now hanging at the Thinkspace Gallery.  The show will remain up until October, 3rd.

Man and nature battle it out in the epic hyperrealistic paintings of Australian artist Joel Rea.  Don’t miss his newest body of work “Beasts of Arcadia” which is currently on display at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC.

Inspired by the renaissance masters and pre-raphaelites of the 19th century, self-taught painter Heather Theurer creates fantastic images that test the limits of imagination.  Touching on many themes from boldly reworking the world’s favorite Disney characters to exploring the thought process of a surreal mind, Theurer’s work is not to be missed.  Just check out some of these examples!

Elegance and grace are redefined in the exquisite digital illustrations of Brooklyn artist Autumn Whitehurst.  By using simple design techniques in combination with ultra-refined faces, sometimes borrowed from your favorite celebrities, the Maryland Institute College of Art graduate is able to put you right in the lap of luxury.  It’s no surprise that her clients include such sophisticated groups as The Principality of Monaco, Italian Vogue, Sapporo, and Aveda, just to name a few.

There is something a little strange about the dark and mysterious subjects in the paintings of Toronto artist Keita Morimoto.  At first they appear normal, but upon closer inspection it’s as if the painter is capturing the beauty of an alien race with long colorful eyes and many deep secrets.  The color schemes only add to the story, placing a somber tone across the entire series of work, accentuating heavy emotions that can only come from meeting someone truly out-of-this-world.

This past Saturday, August 29th, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco opened “Diffused”, a new body of work from Los Angeles artist Dan Quintana.  The collection of painting and charcoal drawings that Quintana has created for this exhibit will take your breath away in the most haunting ways possible.  The images feature decaying demons who hang alongside beautiful inhabitants of a bleak and dreary world.

Digital illustrator and mixed media artist Antonio Páramo hails from Cologne, Germany and creates minimalistic yet bold works of art by combining clean digital illustrations of sultry beauties with geometric shapes, photographs, and paint smears.

Traveling to new places and hanging with the wrong crowds has never been easier, thanks to german photographer Olaf Martens.  The artist takes you on a tour of his eerily whimsical worlds using striking color compositions and hard lighting that make for a beautifully constructed in-your-face presentation of a life without consequence.

Illustrator and painter Oriol Angrill Jordà is well-versed in many mediums ranging from watercolors to printmaking, and everything in-between.  His images convey a sense of calmness and feature beautiful, empowered women in dreamlike atmospheres.

Don’t miss the chance to see Oda & King’s work in person.  They currently have work on display as part of “Transfigure“, a three-person exhibit which opened at the Last Rites gallery in New York on August 22nd.  The show runs until October 3rd and also features Alex Garant and Sarah Joncas.
