“Botanica” @ Genome Gallery
Botanica, an offshoot of the word botanical, relating to the science of plant life includes surreal paintings from over 25 artists that depict growth, development, and death united with characters and objects from differing cultures, times, and locations. Artists such as Dan May, Jason Limon, Scott Scheidly, Joe Vaux, Nathan Spoor, and many others have produced artwork for this show. These artists have been featured in and on the covers of magazines like Juxtapoze, Hi-Fructose, and other nationally and internationally published magazines.
Scott Scheidly who resides in Orlando, Florida is the curator for Botanica. Scheidly is a friend and colleague of John Josef, owner of Genome Gallery. Their working relationship is what brought the botany-based exhibit to Charlotte. If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to stop by the show which runs until July 19th.
